When you join a GDST Sixth Form, such as the Sixth Form at Shrewsbury High, you join a family of students beyond your own school. Individuals who are united by a common bond: our unique GDST family.

Harnessing the power of the GDST family

One of the unique benefits we offer our Sixth Form girls is that we are part of the Girls’ Day School Trust – a family of 25 schools and a network of over 70,000 alumnae–the support from this network will be invaluable at different stages of our girls’ academic and professional life.

It is in the Sixth Form perhaps that our girls really begin to get a sense of the power of the network they belong to and we feel very fortunate that we can provide small classes, a close knit community and truly say that we know every girl whilst still offering our Sixth Formers a global network and a wealth of experiences far beyond the town walls which they will benefit from long after they leave us.

We believe that “if you can see it, you can be it” so GDST Sixth Formers take on leadership roles within the school community, become role models for younger pupils and have opportunities to meet other GDST Sixth Formers at national leadership and careers events.

No other Sixth Form will set you up better for university and the world of work and perhaps the most important benefit of a GDST Sixth Form is the lifelong friendships you will make. The people you share your sixth form journey with will become your friends and support network throughout your life.

The GDST Rungway App

In a major move designed to enable every GDST sixth form student to connect with the GDST’s alumnae family, Shrewsbury High School Sixth Formers use the innovative Rungway mentoring app. as a way of asking some of the burning questions they have about study and life after school, anywhere and at any time.

Our sixth formers benefit from careers advice from former pupils. Students remain anonymous on the app and as it is only available to GDST alumnae they can see the names of all the women giving them advice. All High School sixth formers are eligible to sign up to this app when they enter Year 12 and it complements UCAS and careers support already being offer at the school.

If you are a former Shrewsbury High or GDST pupil and would like to offer advice to our current Sixth Formers, you can sign up to join the Rungway app as a mentor at
