Helping every girl thrive

Our girls are supported through their education because pastoral care is as important to us as results; our girls do better because they feel better.

Pastoral care underpins all our work here at the High School. It means a huge amount that parents have chosen us for their daughters, entrusting them to our care and professional expertise.

Our CLIMB pastoral programme provides expert girl-centred pastoral care to help our girls navigate all the bumps in the road and give every pupil a sense of belonging. It is our responsibility to prepare our girls for a rapidly changing world, and whatever path they choose, Shrewsbury High will walk it with her.

At Seniors, every student has two form tutors who are available to support and guide our girls on a daily basis. Moreover, they are the first port of call for parents and carers, as they are the coaches, mentors and daily support for each and every student in their care.

Heading up each stage team is the Head of Stage, who steers the course and plans proactively for the needs of their cohort of students, tracking the academic and personal development of their pupils.

“This is the school that has taught me to believe in myself, be committed, courageous, confident and composed and to believe that I leave here with the capability to make a difference”.

Our PSHE programme is designed to counter the specific pressures a 21st century girl faces, and we make sure she finds a strong voice through our student council, learning council and our digital leaders’ programme. Peer mentoring and support and our House system is at the heart of our ethos as a school community.

GDST Undivided

We are signed up to the GDST's Undivided Charter for Action to ensure a culture of inclusion and create opportunities for students to contribute to our whole school inclusion strategies.
