The school has provided outstanding academic and pastoral care for students for 140 years. The move paves the way for a carefully planned transition to a fully co-educational model in the future, broadening its offer and welcoming a new chapter in its development.
ILG is one of the largest independent school groups in the UK and is a respected provider of outstanding independent education. The new owners are committed to building on Shrewsbury High School’s ethos and values while continuing to provide the highest standards of education and pastoral care.
The school will continue to be led by the same management team, under the Headship of Darren Payne, with day‑to‑day operations, admissions, and curriculum continuing as normal.
The Junior School will offer co-education across all year groups from September 2026, while the Senior School
takes a more gradual approach, initially welcoming boys into Year 7 and Year 12 from September 2026.
