Calling all SHS alumnae!
In 2025 Shrewsbury High School will be 140 years old!
To celebrate this landmark birthday we are planning a number of events to mark the occasion.
It is with great pleasure that we invite alumnae, former staff, parents and friends of the school to celebrate with us, and have a number of celebratory events for you to add to your calendars.
The festivities will commence in December, the time of year that so many “old girls” refer to in recollection of their fondest memories. We will be recreating the annual ‘Carols round the tree’ exclusively for alumnae on Friday 13th December, prepare to sing The Holly and the Ivy in the round and bellow “five gold rings” as we rock the New Hall.
Early April will see current pupils take to the stage in an all singing, all dancing Celebration Production at Theatre Severn, which we welcome and encourage all old girls to attend.
On Friday 2nd May, retrace your steps and get ready to party as we open the doors to allow alumne to relive their youth and join us in a celebratory lunch with tours all day.
The finale of the celebrations is our Celebratory Gala. On Saturday 3rd May, dust off your glad rags and join us to party the night away- remember, you’re not at school anymore and there’s no homework due in on Monday!
The school was founded on the 5th of May, which in 2025 is a bank holiday. Hopefully you will spare a moment on this day to reflect on your school days and catch up with friends you may not have seen in a while.
In addition to this packed itinerary, expect plenty more, from guest speaker events, to community projects.
If you would like to hear more about these events, please make sure your details are up to date with the GDST. We will be using our GDST alumnae database to communicate with former pupils and our first alumnae newsletter will be emailed out after Easter. You can update your contact details in a couple of minutes by clicking GDST Alumnae – Update Your Details.
All money raised during the celebrations will go towards our Shrewsbury High School bursary fund, with the aim of offering as many girls as possible the opportunity to have a Shrewsbury High School education. Should you wish to make a donation in advance of the celebrations that will directly benefit girls at Shrewsbury High, you can do so by clicking here: Make a Donation .
Please note – we will send out full details on how to book a place at these events later in the year. For now, please save the dates!
