Girls can do anything.

We understand how girls learn, have adapted our environment so that it is designed specifically for them in mind and our whole school, all-girl, all-through culture is conducive to providing the very best learning experience.

Learning is an exciting adventure and one which sparks creativity, curiosity and courage. And our commitment to excellence in that adventure starts long before our girls join us in Reception.

At SHS, the journey begins with our Ready Steady Girl programme for 3-4 year olds who are preparing to start school and have the opportunity to spend time in our innovative Early Years environment once a month.

Each month we immerse early learners in a range of exciting activities, giving them the opportunity to explore new ideas and skills. Themes such as coding, construction, engineering, art, storytelling, drama and maths provide the stimuli for hands-on exploration, collaboration and fun.

The full initiative will launch in September 2022 when each year, Shrewsbury High Junior girls will continue to work through the Ready Steady Girl programme. They will develop the dispositions needed to become successful learners as we lay the foundations for them becoming real world ready. Our girls will possess a strong spirit of enquiry, see themselves as empowered, strong and capable and they will be proactive participants in their own destiny.

Coming Up….

Ready 4 Reception Taster Day – Friday 27th May

Open to any girls who are joining or thinking of joining our Reception class in September 2022, so it will be a fantastic opportunity girls to see what a day at ‘big school’ might be like, to make new friends and get to know our teachers.

Magical Mathematicians – Friday 10th June 10.30am – 11.30am

Join us for a magical adventure in our woodland of wizardry!  Your children will love mixing a series of horrid ingredients for the wizard as well as sorting out forgetful ‘Apprentice Alf’.  The children will have the opportunity to investigate and solve problems using maths mastery skills in our outdoor environment.

Family Forest School –  Wednesday 22nd June 2.00pm – 3.00pm

Come and join us for an exciting Forest School adventure. Get creative in our outdoor classroom, make a muddy mess in the woodland kitchen or hunt for bugs in our bug hotel! Forest School aims to promote the holistic development of all involved, fostering resilient, confident, independent and creative learners. Wellies and waterproof clothing will be required.
