Staff and parents joined with year 11 students at Shrewsbury High School to congratulate the girls on their achievements in this year’s GCSE exams and SHS Head Darren Payne expressed his pride at their academic success but equally of how the students have navigated the challenges of the last few years, “We are delighted with the results that our Year 11 students have received today. They have demonstrated tremendous character throughout a challenging period of time. Through hard work and endeavour, Shrewsbury High School students have achieved results for which they should be incredibly proud.  A huge thanks also to our dedicated teachers and staff at SHS who have worked closely with our students and their families to support them both academically and pastorally.

Alongside notable achievements in the core subjects of English, Maths and Science, Shrewsbury High School students have demonstrated their broad array of talents across the curriculum.  Once again at SHS, students who study arts subjects have excelled, achieving high levels of success in Music, Art and Drama. We believe passionately in supporting the arts at Shrewsbury High School and we are excited to see our students thriving and achieving in these subjects.  Excellent results in Computer Science, Food Preparation and Nutrition and Design Technology further demonstrate the wide range of subjects in which students at the school excel.

There are many individual successes today and we congratulate all of our students on all of their wonderful achievements. Now they can look ahead with excitement to the next two years in the Sixth Form at Shrewsbury High.  With 84% of our Year 13 students moving into their first choice university this year, our new Sixth Formers know that whatever their ambitions, the Sixth Form at Shrewsbury High will prepare them for the world beyond Town Walls”.
