Shrewsbury High School has been educating girls in the heart of Shrewsbury since 1885.

Our Town Walls site on the banks of the River Severn not only gives us the wonderful advantages of stepping out of school into the glorious Quarry Park with easy access onto the river for our rowers, but it also means that for more than 100 years the school’s history has been intertwined with that of the town, giving us a very special connection to Shrewsbury, its residents and businesses.

High School girls are easily recognisable walking to and from school, our pupils can be regularly seen volunteering in local businesses or rowing on the River. Our Senior girls visit local primary schools running theatre workshops and we welcome schools to SHS for Lego robotics, sports and languages programmes. Our Biomedical and Oxbridge Conferences, SHS Lecturefest and Careers events are open to the whole community and our conference rooms, sports halls and dining hall are used for local business forums, sports clubs and even flower show luncheons!

It is a huge privilege to be so closely connected to the town and its people. We can offer our pupils all the benefits of a small school whilst being firmly rooted and connected to the wider community around us.
