Pupils coming to the United Kingdom with their family

If you are moving to the United Kingdom and bringing your child with you on your own VISA, or if they hold a UK passport, they may join Shrewsbury High by following our standard entry procedures.

Please enquire via https://shrewsburyhighschoolgdst.applicaa.com/  for further information.

Students coming to the United Kingdom without family

All applications from students wishing to join the school without family in the UK and who need to apply for a VISA should make an initial enquiry via https://shrewsburyhighschoolgdst.applicaa.com/

Admissions Process

Students joining from overseas will be required to have an interview (virtual or in person) with our Headteacher as well as our EAL and SENDCo.  For entry into Senior School, candidates will also be expected to sit an online CAT4 test.

In Years 10 and 11 an IELTS level 5/6 is expected in English.

In Year 12 an IELTS level 6 is expected in English.

As we are a day school, all students without family in the UK will stay with host families in the local area, which is arranged via an agency. All offers made to study at Shrewsbury High are done in conjunction with the agency contract.

Visas

Shrewsbury High School is a licensed sponsor with the UK Visas and Immigration. If a place on the course is offered and accepted, we will provide the necessary CAS letter to be used as part of the visa application process, subject to the student meeting UKVI requirements. Parents are responsible for obtaining their daughter’s visa.

EAL Charges

Following an interview and assessment by our EAL Coordinator, a timetable of required additional EAL support will be drawn up with its corresponding charges on a case by case basis and depending on need.

Registration Fees and Deposits

Please note that Shrewsbury High School operates on a three-term academic year.  To register there is a non-refundable fee of £100.  On accepting a place, a deposit is required of a full term’s fees for international students.
