We appreciate that applying to a private school for the first time can sometimes feel overwhelming.  However, applying to join Shrewsbury High School is simple and straightforward.

Simple steps to applying for a place:

Request a prospectus to find out more about what Shrewsbury High School has to offer your child.

The best way to get a real feeling for the school is to pay us a visit. Tours for parents and pupils can be arranged at any time and we warmly invite you to visit the school either for an Open Day or during term time by prior arrangement. We will arrange an appointment for you to view Shrewsbury High School, meet some of our staff and pupils, as well as talk to the Headteacher. You can also arrange an online meeting if you are unable to attend in person or are joining from abroad.

We also recommend arranging a taster day at school – this gives pupils the chance to better familiarise themselves with the school and their future classmates and teachers and is a wonderful chance way of experiencing all that the school has to offer.

To arrange a visit to our school or an online meeting, email admissions@shr.gdst.net or call 01743 494 038.

Register for a place by completing an online registration.

You can register your child for a place at the school at any time. Parents are required to make a non- refundable payment of £100 and complete a registration form.

Your child will be asked to sit an assessment either as part of a taster day or at our designated entrance exam days during the year.

Once you are happy this is the place for your child and you have received an offer letter, you will be asked to complete the parent contract ahead of your child’s starting date.  Once a place has been confirmed and you have decided that Shrewsbury High is the place for your child, we will ask you to complete a parent contract and pay a £500 refundable deposit. The deposit will be held until the end of your child’s final term in school and will be refunded within 12 weeks of their leaving, less any sums owing to the GDST or the school at that time. The deposit cannot be refunded if a pupil is withdrawn after a place has been accepted.

Open Days

If you are thinking about Shrewsbury High for your child, we warmly welcome you to come and see the school for yourself.

Our popular Open Days take place in the Autumn and Spring terms and are an excellent way to visit the school, meet the staff and children and explore our facilities and grounds.  We also hold a variety of year group taster days throughout the year.

Open day tours are conducted by our pupils, who are on hand to answer your questions. Our pupils are very proud of their school and love to show it off to visitors. You will also have a chance to hear from our Headteacher and other members of staff on your tour.

Private visits and individual tours can also be arranged by prior appointment at a time that is convenient for you.
