Mr Ryan King – Head of Key Stage 1 and Early Years
“I have only recently joined the family at Shrewsbury High Prep School, and I am proud to be the leader of the already fantastic Pre-Prep department. In our Pre-Prep building, ‘The Rocks’, you will find our close-knit team of dynamic and creative staff working together to nurture a love of learning within our pupils during this vital stage of their education.
Before this role, I previously worked abroad at Shrewsbury International School, Bangkok for the last 6 years. Exciting plans are afoot for the youngest members of this happy school community here in the heart of Shrewsbury and I am thrilled to be working alongside my inspiring colleagues and with our brilliant children.”
Miss Teresa Davies – Nursery Co-Ordinator
“I joined Shrewsbury High School in 2014. I am the Nursery Co-Ordinator which means I help support the children and their families as they settle into our beautiful school. I always knew I wanted to work with children and have worked in children’s nurseries and other schools for the whole of my career. I am very lucky to work in such a great environment at Shrewsbury High Prep School. I believe in the importance of working with parents to get to know the children I care for, to really enable me to tailor their experiences to them and make their early years as exciting and engaging as possible!
I love seeing the children come into school each morning with a welcoming smile. Then I know that I’ve achieved my mission in making sure they have a seamless transition from home to nursery and giving them amazing opportunities to learn and explore!”
Mrs Rebecca Wilde – Reception Teacher
“My vocation has always been to work with children and to become a teacher. Since graduating from university in 2002, specialising in Early Years and P.E, I have taught in a range of private and local authority schools, mainly in Early Years and Key Stage 1. I have worked at Shrewsbury High School since 2008 and from 2014 in a job share with Mrs Waterson. A job share that works effectively and seamlessly, with the emphasis being on teaching and learning. Through carefully planned activities, we inspire and motivate the children to make progress and develop successfully.
Outside of school, I enjoy family days out and going for walks and bike rides with my husband and two young children.”

“I have taught many year groups during my time at Shrewsbury High and been in many different roles but, without a doubt, being a Year 1 teacher is my favourite. The pupils mature rapidly during the year and it is a pleasure and a privilege to teach them. Something amazing seems to happen every day!”
Mrs Gill Styles – Year 2 Teacher
“I have worked at Shrewsbury High School for quite a number of years. My two passions are teaching young people and music and so I am so lucky to have such a wonderful job here at Shrewsbury High Prep School that allows me to teach Year 2 in the Pre Prep as well as teaching music to children from Nursery to Year 2!
It always gives me great pleasure to follow the progress of pupils whom I have taught, as they travel on their journey through the school and beyond.”

Mrs Adele Brown – Teaching Assistant
“I started my career working in a small independent school in Shrewsbury in the Reception class. I then moved to Shrewsbury High School in January 2007. Since then, I have enjoyed working with a variety of classes ranging from Reception to Year 3, I have also delivered intervention with individual pupils. I am very lucky to work in such a happy and caring environment, and I absolutely love my time with the children. No two days are ever the same which is what makes it so fulfilling and exciting!”
Mrs Alison Wickwar – Teaching Assistant
“I have worked with children for over 25 years and I have had the privilege of working at Shrewsbury High School for the past 9 years across the key stages. I currently work with children from Nursery to Year 3; supporting them in all areas of the school community. I have lived in Shropshire all my life and have a passion for being outdoors so I absolutely love supporting forest school sessions and outdoor learning.”
Mrs Jeanette Hinks – Teaching Assistant
“I have worked with children for over 20 years, working as a childminder and also working in a range of nurseries around Shrewsbury.For the past 10 years, I have worked at Shrewsbury High Prep School in both Pre-Prep and Prep. I have experience of working alongside teachers giving support in the classroom and also delivering intervention to small groups of children.I enjoy working as a team with other staff members and I find working with the children really rewarding.”
Miss Teresa Madden – Teaching Assistant
“I have been a Teaching Assistant with the Pre-Prep team at Shrewsbury High School since 2009. During this period, I have worked mainly in the Reception class but also have experience of working within Key Stage 1. My training and background are in Early Years and Special Educational Needs of which I am both passionate about, I am also trained in Mental Health First Aid. I have valuable experience that spans over three decades, working in a small, Independent school and two Local Authority schools all in my hometown of Bridgnorth.
I enjoy working at Shrewsbury High school and feel privileged to be a part of an inspiring team of staff who endeavour to make every day different and exciting for our wonderful pupils here at the Pre-Prep.”
