Life in Reception
Reception builds on from the learning and development in Nursery. The Reception team recognises that each child is unique and individual. Children learn through play-based activities that match the preferred learning styles of each child. We want all of our students to be aware of their personal strengths and qualities; to explore and realise their academic and all-round potential; and to become open-minded, confident young people equipped to succeed in the modern world.
We create enabling environments in which each child is supported and challenged to think, learn and develop to their full potential. We provide a broad curriculum, a place to feel safe and secure, a chance to develop skills and confidence and friendships.
Shrewsbury High School Early Years provides a high-quality learning environment for every child. We know that the experience your child has will form the keystone of their education and achievement for life. Warm, nurturing and caring adults will provide a sound base from which children will become motivated to discover and explore the world around them. We support children’s achievement and progress through The Early Years Foundation Stage [EYFS].
