A History of Making Girls' Futures

From mentoring to donating to our bursary fund, how you can support the girls of SHS.

In 2025 Shrewsbury High School marks its 140th birthday and this milestone has given us a moment to pause and reflect on all we have achieved and all we continue to strive towards.  Our mission and values have never been clearer; to reach as many girls as possible and to create a more equal world by educating young women to thrive in the real world and contribute to making a better future for us all.

A Shrewsbury High School education has the power to change lives.  Not only for those girls who experience it, but through the impact they will go on to have in the world.

Reaching as many girls as possible.

Since 1998 over 6,600 women across the UK have benefited from the life-changing opportunity of a GDST education thanks to our bursary programme. In our anniversary year, we are putting bursary fundraising at the heart of our celebrations.

How you can help

Making a regular gift to the Shrewsbury High School Bursary Fund will enable more bright and talented girls to have the opportunity of a Shrewsbury High Education. Your contribution, no matter what size can make a huge difference to a student.

Our supporters are the backbone in our mission to reach as many girls as possible with a life changing Shrewsbury High School GDST education.  Each gift, great and small, is valuable and greatly appreciated.  Hear from one of our regular donors in her own words:

"Throughout my career I have seen at first hand the transformative difference donors can make, and within education bursary programmes are life changing – for the pupils, their families and also for the School itself. I am proud to be able to support Shrewsbury High’s bursary scheme by becoming a regular donor, knowing that my donation is helping to enable more pupils to enjoy the benefits of a SHS education, now and for generations to come.”

Inspiring Current pupils

Our alumnae support current pupils in a number of other ways, too. This might be through work experience opportunities, as a panellist in our Women Mean Business Conferences or one-off careers guidance.
