The two years of the Sixth Form represent the most exciting chapter in your education so far, a time of discovery and the opportunity to spread your wings. SHS Sixth Formers have their own dedicated Sixth Form House, a contemporary and inspiring environment which allows them to study independently and socialise with fellow Sixth Formers. Open Days and visits are the best way to find out more. Email our admissions team to arrange your visit or register for our Open Days.

Becoming a Sixth Former Days
Our two Becoming a Sixth Former Days are excellent ways for students to spend time with our Sixth Form team and get a feel for the academic and pastoral life of the Sixth Form. What does it mean to be a Sixth Former at SHS? What are A level subjects like, how does the House System work, what leadership opportunities are open to me? Ahead of the application deadline and scholarship assessments, there is no better way to decide if SHS feels like the right place for you.

Applications are welcome throughout the year, however to secure your daughter’s place, early application is encouraged.

Bursary Application Deadline
15.11.2024Bursaries are means-tested awards and can contribute between 30 and 100% of the fees. Bursary assessments are carried out by our GDST Bursary team and if awarded can remain with a pupil for the duration of her time at Shrewsbury High. An annual review of your award will take place every year and the award may increase or decrease depending on that annual review. Once you have submitted an application for a place, you can proceed with a bursary application. You will be informed of the outcome of your bursary application in your daughter’s offer letter.

Girls joining us into Year 12 are eligible to sit two scholarship assessments, in either an Academic subject or a specialist Sports, Art, Music and Drama scholarship. Scholarship awards are prestigious and very few are awarded. They are merit based and awarded to the top performing student in that area and usually come with a fee remission of around 10%. Applications for Art, Music, Drama and Sports scholarships can be made once an initial application for a place has been submitted on the Admissions platform. Full details of scholarship criteria can be found on our scholarship page.
Offers
Offers will be made via our online Admissions platform at the start of December.
Offers
Once you are happy that Shrewsbury High School is the right place for your daughter, and have received your offer letter, you must complete the online parent contract within a certain time and pay a £500 refundable deposit. We will hold the deposit until the end of your daughter’s final term at school and refund it within 12 weeks of their departure, minus any sums owed to the GDST or the school at that time. We cannot refund the deposit if you withdraw your child after accepting the place.
Starting Sixth Form
We take great care in providing you and your daughter with a carefully designed transition programme to ensure that she is well prepared to make the move to the Sixth Form. We will invite her to join us for induction events and our Director of Sixth Form will be in close contact with you all to ensure a smooth transition in September.
