Results and Destinations
Irrespective of a girl’s starting point, we help her achieve beyond the bounds of expectation.
At Shrewsbury High School we are very proud of the achievements of our pupils.
Two of the highlights of each academic year are A Level and GCSE results days. All of the hard work comes to fruition on these days as pupils in Year 13, finishing Sixth Form and Year 11, finishing their secondary school education, discover the grades they have been awarded. Our community here at Shrewsbury High is very strong. On these results days, pupils, parents and many of the teaching and support staff are present when the results are given out.
These are very special days here at the High School. Being present when pupils receive their results and achieve successes which then allow them to move to the next stage of their education or chosen vocation, truly is a privilege.

Shrewsbury High School Sixth Formers demonstrated once again their broad range of talents across several subjects by achieving an excellent set of A level results in 2024.
Three quarters of grades were A*/B with 8 girls achieving a clean sweep of A*/A grades. Head Girl Harriet, and Deputy Head Girls Eleanor and Alice all achieved A*/As, a huge achievement to have such academic success alongside the leadership responsibilities that come with being part of the Head Girl Team. Michelle, Olivia, Phoebe, Emma, and Pippa are also celebrating a sweep of A*/As.
What was particular exciting for the school was the excellence demonstrated across Faculties from Creative Technologies, Science, Languages and Maths.
Art achieved 100% A*/A grades in Fine Art, Art and Design (Graphics) and Art and Design (Photography). Religious Studies also saw 100% A*/As. There were also strong performances in Science and Maths with 70% of grades across Biology, Chemistry and Physics A*/B and 80% of Maths and Further Maths A*/B.

Individually there were some outstanding results at GCSE level this year and breadth of success across so many faculties – outside of the Core Subjects, superb results for the Languages Department, continuing to buck the national trend with excellent results in French and German and 100% 9-7 achieved in Latin. Building on the success of Art in last week’s A level results, our creative subjects continue to shine with Drama and Music also achieving excellent results. There were also strong results in STEM subjects, as well as in Computer Science and Statistics which also saw a 100% 9-7 achievement.
